Research Associate, Infrastructure Engineering2019 – present
HafenCity Universität Hamburg · Hamburg
Research on predictive maintenance, ageing and asset management of district heating infrastructure.
- Introduced X-ray microscopy, laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy and infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR / FT-NIR) to the study of polyurethane foam ageing in pre-insulated pipes — none previously applied to this material for this purpose.
- Developed the processing algorithms for these measurements from scratch, as no laboratory software existed capable of the analysis.
- Built back-simulation methods that reconstruct the thermal loading history of networks from sparse operational records.
- Developed a scenario-based algorithmic framework for sustainable asset management of district heating networks.
- Nine first-author publications across journals, conference proceedings and institutional reports.
